
Trisha Swinton, MA, LPC, LMFT
Licensed Professional Counselor
Trisha currently works full time for a nonprofit agency where she provids mental health assessments and services to children with special needs ages three to five. She also provides special education services and evaluates children’s cognitive skills.
Her previous professional experiences include working as a home based therapist for intensive counseling to children and families in crisis such as child abuse and neglect, parent mental illness, and separation from caregiver.
Trisha works as an eclectic therapist, using client centered therapy and a family systems approach. She joins the family working as a team player to provide a nonjudgmental empathetic approach to counseling. Her belief is that if one person in the system makes a positive change, the entire system will positively change as well.
In working with individuals, Trisha assists her clients to determine underlying fears, gaining insight into the cause of the fear and anxiety, and beginning the healing process. She treats victims who have been abused by empowering them and helping them find their inner strength to cope in a healthy way.
Trisha works with adults, adolescents, children and families.
She also works with people who are suffering from depression, anxiety, relationship issues, eating disorders, and victims of abuse.
Trisha attended the University of Northern Colorado where she received her Masters degree in community counseling with an emphasis on marriage and family therapy. She is a licensed professional counselor as well as a licensed marriage and family therapist. She also received her Masters in Special Education from Adelphi University in New York, and is a licensed special education teacher.
It is her hope that her and her clients will establish a positive rapport, working together to make positive changes for the clients to live a fulfilling more satisfying life.
